Dr. Henry W. Mack

     Dr. Henry W. Mack was a native of Detroit, Michigan. In 1947 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was one of the first African Americans assigned to a formerly all-white unit. He had the distinction of being one of the few remaining members of the “Buffalo Soldiers” cavalry. Dr. Mack was a veteran of both the Korea and Vietnam wars. His last military assignments were at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. He also served as Commanding Officer of one of the largest guided missile bases in the United States.

     Dr. Mack retired from the United States Army in 1968 in the grade of Major after over 20 years of distinguished service. Dr. Mack received the Department of Defense Certificate of Recognition for service promoting peace and stability for this nation during the Cold War. He also received Commendation Medals from the Secretaries of the Army and Air Force, along with thirty-six letters of commendation for exemplary service.

 

     Dr. Mack received his formal education in Business Administration at the University of Maryland and was also a Distinguished Military Graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He earned a Ph.D., in Business Administration at Thornwood University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, in June 1987. 

     Following his retirement from the Army, Dr. Mack had a long and distinguished civilian career. He served as Chairman and CEO of Traitex, Inc., a management consulting firm. Dr. Mack was a renowned civil rights advocate for over 60 years and was present at the Lincoln Memorial when Dr. Martin Luther King made his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. For more than 25 years, he devoted himself to volunteer service to the schools and community of Dade County, Florida.
